Education:
  • Ferdowsi School, Long Island, is located in Brookville, NY at the Greek Orthodox Church, and currently has 30 students. The school has 6 classes, ranging from kindergarten to advanced. This year, in addition to graduation in May, the school had the Nowruz, Mehregan and Yalda celebrations.
  • Ferdowsi School, Westchster, moved to a new location at Highland Middle School in White Plains, and currently has 27 students. The classes in this school range from kindergarten to 2nd grade. The school celebrated Nowruz and Yalda in addition to the graduation in May.
Community Center:
The Board of Trustees and several long time members are actively are working to secure a permanent place for the community center (Khaneh-Iran). Dr. Hedayati and Dr. Naghavi have been aggressively pursuing the idea and have contacted the Office of Nassau Country Executive. While many good progress has been made, as of now, IAS has been not been able to secure a place suitable for the center.

In 2012, the Board is considering other options, including: purchasing the land and building the center; purchase and renovate a building; and finally rent with option to buy among many alternatives. Several members have generously offered to help the fundraising effort. We will keep you posted throughout the year.
