Community Center:
As you are aware, last year, the Iranian American Society of New York, Inc. (IAS) began its mission of searching for its own home in Long Island, New York. The Board of Directors voted that it is essential for our children and our future generations to have a place for our people and people of all walks of life to celebrate our rich Iranian heritage. As such, the Board of Directors has begun its efforts to raise funds in order to meet its goals and to achieve this long overdue mission. The Board of Trustees and several long time members are actively are working to secure a permanent place for a community center (Khaneh-Iran). The Board has been aggressively pursuing the idea. While good progress has been made, as of now, IAS has been not been able to secure a place suitable for the center.

During the course of the year, the Board has submitted two unsuccessful bids to purchase a building in the amount of $501,000. Several Board Members in search of a place for the center have inspected several properties.
Community Activities:

The IAS support and sponsored the following efforts:
Saman Giraud Iranian Director: Saman is seeking support for her first film "M4-My Many Married Men." Your support will help a young Iranian movie director to get her voice out in the industry and will lead to future opportunities. "M4 - My Many Married Men" is a new short film by Saman Giraud about Valerie, a French painter, who has moved to New York City from Paris to pursue her dreams of finding romance and falling in love.

Introducing B|ta'arof Magazine: B|ta'arof Magazine arrives in response to the absence of a printed space, in English, for social comment, reflection and shared experience among the Iranian community. Their website is intended to house a virtual museum of the contemporary Iranian experience. The magazine features three sections: Oral History, Visual Arts, and Nonfiction.
